This tutorial is written with a coauthor, Becky Bolton, who is in PSPMadeEz with me. She created a beautiful animated graphic similar to what we are presenting here for our tutorial. She does not write tutorials, so I asked to be a coauthor with her, so we could present this to the PSP Community. I now have the name of the artist, her name is Camilla Drakenborg and she has the copyright on the image. She has graciously allowed me to leave the tutorial for the PSP Community. To see more of her work go here. We still have had no answer to emails to the tuber, we only know, darQue. Becky received this tube in one of her groups.
Tutorial Written on May 24, 2004 My tutorials are only guidelines to help you accomplish a certain creation. Please feel free to be inventive and take whatever liberties you would like. I hope each of you enjoy this tutorial. Your finished creation is yours to do with as you please. This tutorial is written in and for PSP Version 8 and assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP and Animation Shop. I am sure this can easily be done in other versions with a few adjustments. This is my first tutorial using Version 8, so bear with me.... :) Supplies you will need: Jasc Paint Shop Pro HERE PSP Version 8 Demo Supplies HERE zipped and in its own Folder. Place in your Tutorial Folders for easy access. The Gold Foil.bmp can be placed in your MyPSP Files/Patterns Folder, or opened in PSP and minimized to be used. If you are ready lets start this exciting new tutorial. 1. Open the SereneSkies_patao .jpg in PSP, Duplicate and Close Original. Open the darQue-champagnetresses tube in PSP. Open GoldFoil.bmp and minimize, if you didn't place it in your Patterns Folder. 2. Make the Tube your active window, and Edit/Copy. Make the Serene Skies jpg active and then Edit/Paste as a new layer. You can close your Original Tube now, so you don't loose it. With your mover tool place it so that bottom edge of the tube is on the bottom of your window, and centered. Now lets save our work to Tutorial Folder. I named mine "Serene Skies IN PROCESS". 3. On your layer Palette, activate the Background layer.(1st layer) and Add a New Raster Layer, and name it "HELP COLOR", Flood Fill this layer with Dark Blue, #000080 you'll see why in a sec..LOL 4. Select the Woman Tube Layer, so lets set our Eraser up. See Screen Shot for settings. All of your erasing will be done the the Woman tube, and the blue will show thru so you can see what you removed.
I started with the +Round 05 Shape and then set Size to 5, for the Larger Beads. Zoom in on your work, I used mine at 250% for easy viewing of bead like shapes on tube. Continue erasing on all the large beads that you want removed. I just did (1) click of my mouse on each bead. The top edge of her hair is an area to be very careful on. Leave some of the white so your erasing has an edge. SAVE 5. Reset your Eraser to size 3, all other setting are the same. Now erase the smaller bead areas. In some of the tight spaces I went every other beads, so there was definition on each. You can erase as much or as least that you want on your work. Here is a sample of how many I ended up erasing. SAVE
6. Now that you have finished your erasing, lets delete the Help Color layer from your Layer Palette. 7. Active the Woman Layer on your Palette, and with the Magic Wand set at Mode:Replace / Match Mode: RGB Value/ Tolerance:22/Feather: 0/ Anti-alias; Outside. Now place your cursor on the background, which will put marching ants around the woman. Go to Selections/Modify/Expand by 1. Selections/Invert. DO NOT DESELECT. 8. Make your Background layer active, and Add a new raster layer, and name it Gold_1. We are now going to Flood Fill with the GoldFoil. Go to your Material Palette and browse to the GoldFoil. Set the Angle at 90degrees, and Scale at 100. See Screen Shot.
9. Add a New Raster layer and name it Gold_2. Place your cursor on the GoldFoil Pattern on the Material Palette, and change the SIZE to 120, same angle. Flood Fill the Gold_2 layer. Select/Select None. SAVE 10. If you scroll down to the bottom of the tutorial you will see another version of the tutorial for Colorizing. If you are going to apply this to your work, do it now. Be sure to colorize both the Background and the Woman layer. Do nothing to the Gold layers. SAVE 11. Select the top layer on your layer palette, and add a new Raster layer, name it "Frame". Select/Select All. Select/Modify/Contract by 8. Select/Invert and Flood Fill with your Gold Pattern. Effect/3D Effects/Drop Shadow as below. If you colorized your image, then select a dark color from your image.
12. Lets Save now for Animation Shop. Be sure that your Save Options are set so that it saves for PSP7 or before. I set mine compatible with PSP 5,See Screen Shot:
13. Now lets open Animation Shop. Lets set up your Preferences so you never have to Merge an Animation again.
Use your Animation Wizard As follows.
Your Animation is now open in the main frame. You can now view your Animation by selecting the VIEW ANIMATION on the TOP RIGHT of the Menu. If you are satisfied with the speed and look you can now do your "Save As", by placing it in the folder of your choice. If you DID NOT resize your .gif will be 460X321 and carry 132.3 Kb's, for posting criteria of your groups. Now your Optimization wizard takes over then you do Next, Next, Next and Finish. You are DONE. Here is another version I did by using the colorize feature and also resized.
I would like to thank my testers and show you their results. Lynn
