Supplies you will need:

Jasc Paint Shop Pro HERE PSP V8 Demo

Zip of 2 tubes and 1 Seamless Tile HERE

Font I used "Heartland Reg" Freeware HERE

If you need the Preset Shape, Heart Shape 1, you can download it from Jasc, for free HERE

Now that you have all your supplies, lets begin. Remember to SAVE OFTEN. You are going to have a workout on following the steps, as they are very close in description. So your close attention will be required on this one. ~smile~ (Step 12 has been updated, as I made and error. Look who wasn't paying attention..hahaha)

1. Open The Silhouette_ Angel and Angel Wing Tube in PSP, and Minimize. Also open the PatrioticFlag_Smls Tile, and Minimize.

2. Open a New Image 500X400, transparent.

Activate the Silhouette Angle Tube. Edit/Copy, Active you New Image window and Copy/Paste "As a New Layer" Now lets do a "Save As' to our tutorial folder, "Patriotic Angel In Process"

Select your Magic Wand setting your Tolerance at 50 and Feather 0. Click on the Black portion of the tube, putting marching ants around it.

Selections/Modify/Expand 1.

On your color palette set to FILL PATTERN/Patriotic Flag Tile/100%/Angle 0.

Add a New Layer and Flood Fill with you pattern.

Deselect

Activate Layer 2 and add a New Layer

Using you Paint Brush Tool, Color 404040, Opacity 100, Size 5, Step 11 Density 70, paint a small line on the inside edge of the bonnet of the Angel. See Screen Shot for Setting and View, this helps make face appear under the bonnet

Effects/Blur/Gaussian Blur 2.00 and on Layer pa letter lower the Opacity to 45.

Activate Layer 3 on layer palette

Effect/Blur/Gaussian Blur 0.55 to remove any jaggies

Turn OFF Layer 1 and leave OFF until I tell you to turn it back on.

Layers/Merge/Merge Visible, and rename this layer "ANGEL" SAVE

3. Activate Angel Wing Tube, Edit/Copy activate your Patriotic Angel In Process Window and Edit/Paste "As A New Layer".

Select your Magic Wand Tool, with the same settings and click on the Angel Wing Tube.

Add a New Layer, and Flood Fill with your PatrioticFlag Tile Pattern

Deselect

Effect/Blur/Gaussian Blur 0.55

Turn Off you Angle Layer, and Merge/Merge Visible, and rename "Wing"

Image/Resize/80% with all layers UNCHECKED.

Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen. SAVE

4. Activate Angel Layer

Image/Resize/80% with all layers UNCHECKED

DO NOT Sharpen this layer or you will get a light edge on the face of your angel.

Now with mover tool place your ANGEL in the Center of your window, and move your WING into position also. See Screen Shot below

 

 

5. Activate Layer 1 on your layer palette and Flood Fill with White. Activate Angel Layer, and add a New Layer, you can call it "Text". Select your Text tool. Choose your color, I used Navy 000040 FILL, No Stroke. Click on your active window, and select your Font. I used Heartland Reg, Size 72, floating

Effects/3D Effects/InnerBevel setting on Screen Shot below.

Move your text with the Mover Tool, up under the Angel, so it looks like she is sitting on it.

6. Go to Preset Shapes tool. Select Heart 1, antialias CHECKED, create as VECTOR CHECKED. On the color palette select FILL, color Red 800000. Place a Small Heart on your image on the Top Right of you window, aligning above the foot of the angel. Right click on the later palette and convert to raster layer. Are you SAVING????

Effect/3D Effects/Inner Bevel/ CHANGING Intensity to 46 and Shininess to 20.

Rename Layer 4 to HEART

Duplicate Heart Layer and rename HEART 2

Image/Resize/80% (Resize all layers UNCHECKED)

With Mover Tool, move left half way toward Angel and down.

Duplicate HEART 2 and rename HEART 3

Image/Resize 80% (Resize all layers UNCHECKED)

With Mover Tool, move left toward Angel, you can look at original image at top for placement.

7. Activate WING layer, and rename "Front Wing 1", duplicate and rename "Front Wing 2". Turn off Front Wing 1 Layer.

Select your Deformation tool, CTRL Key + cursor on the TOP LEFT Node, moving the Node UPWARD. You bottom node will now move too. See Screen Shot.

With Deformation Still in place select the CENTER LEFT node and move RIGHT, approx. 1/2 the distance to the Angels back. See Screen Shot

Deselect Deformation, Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen.

8. Activate Front Wing 1, duplicate and Rename "BACK WING 1" and move this layer BELOW, Angel layer.

Activate Front Wing 2, duplicate and Rename "BACK WING 2", and move down BELOW Angel layer also.

Now a little adjusting: HINT: If you turn off both of the Front Wing layers, you can move the BACK two wings Up a little so you can see the Tops Tips. Turn the Front Wings back ON to check your placement. This part is to your satisfaction. I am providing a Screen Shot so you can see how I did mine.

9. Now we need to Crop away some of the size, using your Crop Tool, select your complete Angel, Wings, and Text. See Screen Shot.

10. If you want to add your copyright or watermark, add a new layer on the top of your layer palette and doing that now. SAVE

 

11. We are now going to do our "Save As" for Animation Shop. It is important that you follow my direction now EXACTLY, if you want the same animated effect.

First I want you to now do a "Save As" " PATRIOTIC ANGEL BASE" this way you will have your complete image intact for future use, or any changes you need to do.

Turn OFF the following layers:

BACK WING 1,

FRONT WING 2

HEART

HEART 2

If you want your animation as a transparent .gif, turn off Layer 1 also. I left mine on.

Now do your "Save As" "PATRIOTIC ANGEL 1"

12. Turn OFF Back Wing 2 and Turn ON Back Wing 1 (UPDATED 3-26-03)

Turn OFF Heart 3 and Turn ON Heart 2

Turn OFF Front Wing 1 and Turn ON Front Wing 2

Now do your "Save As" PATRIOTIC ANGEL 2"

13. Turn OFF Back Wing 1 and Turn ON Back Wing 2

Turn OFF Front Wing 2 and Turn ON Front Wing 1

Turn OFF all Heart 2 and turn ON Heart layer

Now do your "Save As" "PATRIOTIC ANGEL 3"

14. Turn OFF Back Wing 2 and Turn ON Back Wing 1

Turn OFF Front Wing 1 and turn ON Front Wing 2

Turn OFF all Heart Layers

 

15. Launch Animation Shop: Make sure you have it set up with your preferences as follows in Screen Shot. You'll never have to merge your layers for Animation Shop if you set them up like this.

Select your Animation Wizard, and follow each step as in the Screen Shots Below

Load your Patriotic Angel as shown below:

Select NEXT and your Animation Shop will load your frames.

To View your animation select the View Animation Icon

 

Before you do your Saving here are some things to consider.

If you leave the animation this size it will be approximately 370X290, depending on your cropping, and carry approximately 52 KBS. This is the size of the animation on the top of this tutorial.

 

To resize your animation close your View Animation, then go to the Top Menu and Select Animation/Resize. This can be done by pixels, or percentages.

You may need to resize, for group posting. You also may want this as a small tag in your email. I resized by 50% prior to saving and it will then be approximately 185X147 and carry 17 KBS. Example below
