DIAMOND CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT

Screen shots are resized and for faster loading. Don't forget to SAVE your work often.

This tutorial is written in and for PSP Version 7.04 and assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP. I am sure this can easily be done in other versions with a few adjustments.

 

You will need the following:
Paint Shop Pro 30 Day Free Trial HERE PSP V8 Demo

Diamond and Sparkle tube HERE

If you're ready let's get started
Place the tubes in a folder and NOT in Picture Tube tool.


1. Open a new Transparent window...
400 X 400
Open your Diamond and Sparkle tube into PSP
and minimize your sparkle tube .....SAVE OFTEN..


2. Activate your Diamond Tube, by clicking on it.
Edit/Copy
Activate new 400 X 400 window
Edit/Paste " As new Layer"
Go to Layer Palette and Duplicate this layer.
With Mover tool, adjust the 2 diamonds so the tips are touching. See Screen Shot


3. Turn off Layer 1 on your layer palette
Layers/Merge/Merge Visible
Duplicate Merged Layer
Image/Rotate/Left 90 %
Layers/Merge/Merge Visible.
Duplicate Merged Layer
Effect/CutOut:
V_0
H_0
Opacity_100
Blur_6
Shadow Color_BLK
Fill Interior UNCHECKED
Your image will disappear here, leaving only a shadow and dimension of image.
Layers/Merge/Merge Visible
Duplicate Merged Layer
Image/Rotate/Left 45 Degrees


4. Add a New Layer
With selection tool set to Circle and holding down the Shift Key place the crossbar of tool in the middle of your Diamond tile and pull downward to size of inside square.
This is hard to see, so I have given you a flood filled view with screen shot


Flood fill with Color #4040FF

5. Activate Sparkle Tube, by restoring it
Edit/Copy
Activate 400 X 400 Window
Edit/Paste "As New Selection"
Place the Sparkle at the center of Blue
Flood fill circle.
Selections/Select None
Duplicate this layer on your layer palette
Image/Rotate/LEFT 45 Degrees
Layer Palette/Lower Opacity to 77
Layer/Merge/Merge Visible


6. Image/Resize/by 50% be sure that " Resize all layers is UNCHECKED"
Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen


7. Add a new layer
With Preset Shapes Tool....Select Ellipse
Line Width _3
Antialias CHECKED
Color: 808080
Draw a eclipse hanger for your ornament
Effects/Inner Bevel/ SEE SCREEN SHOT
With Crop Tool, put a square around the ornament and DOUBLE click inside the square.
Layers/Merge/Merge Visible


Your Ornament Is Complete. Save in .tub or .psp format, and you can use it in any of your graphics.


If you only want to use it once, then use:
Layers/Merge/Merge all, (flatten) and save as jpeg or gif
