CutGlass Signature Ornament

My tutorials are only guidelines to help you accomplish a certain creation. Please feel free to be inventive and take whatever liberties you would like. I hope each of you enjoy this tutorial. Your finished creation is yours to do with as you please.

Screen shots are resized and for faster loading. Don't forget to SAVE your work often.

This tutorial is written in and for PSP Version 7.04 and assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP. I am sure this can easily be done in other versions with a few adjustments.

You will need the following:
Paint Shop Pro 30 Day Free Trial HERE PSPV8 Demo
1 Selection....... HERE
Tubes and Tile........ DO NOT put in your Picture Tube Tool. Place in a folder for import into PSP..... HERE

If you're ready let's get started, so let's open your GLASS TILE , GLOBE FROSTED and HANGER2 tubes in PSP. Minimize the GLOBE and HANGER for now.

1. Open a New Image 400 X 400 Transparent.
Add a New Layer and call it "Ornament" "SAVE OFTEN"


2. Activate your Cut Glass Tile 1.
Selections/Load From Disc: "Ornament 1"
Edit/Copy
Activate Image 1 Window
Edit/paste "As New Selection"
Move your selection to Coordinates on your Ruler:
Side Ruler: 300
Top Ruler: 200
Left click to place selection.
Deselect.


3. Go to layer palette, and with Ornament Layer Active: DUPLICATE
With "Copy of Ornament" Active: IMAGE/FLIP


4. Activate Layer 1
Restore your GLOBE_FROSTED tube.
Edit/Copy
Activate Image 1 window
Edit/Paste "AS NEW LAYER"
Rename this layer "Globe"


5. Activate "COPY OF ORNAMENT" Layer.
Add a new Layer, call it "SIGNATURE"


6. Select your TEXT Tool with the following settings......

Font: Lucida Handwriting
Size: 48
Stroke: NONE
Fill: Cut Glass Tile 1..at 100%
Bold: Checked
Italic: Checked
Floating: Checked
Antialias: Checked


7. Effect/3D/Cutout with the following settings

Repeat Cutout, changing your VERTICAL and HORIZONTAL
to MINUS 1...... (-1)
Deselect

8. Activate your "Copy of Ornament" layer
Selections/Select All
Selections/Float
Use Same Cut Out on this layer, plus repeat Cut Out.
Deselect.


9. Activate your "Ornament" layer
Selections/Select All
Selections/Float
Use Same Cut Out on this layer, plus repeat Cut Out.
Deselect.


10. Turn Off Layer 1 (click on eyeglasses on layer palette)
Layers/Merge/Merge Visible
Rename this layer "Ornament"
Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen More
Image/Resize to 75% Resize all layers UNCHECKED
GOOD TIME TO SAVE
Turn Layer 1 BACK ON...and make it your active Layer.
Flood fill with COLOR: 5E015F or dark color of your choice.


11. Activate your Ornament Layer
Restore your HANGER Tube.
Edit/Copy
Edit/Paste "AS NEW LAYER"


"HINT: Due to the low opacity of tube and ornament, I select my
Deformation tool, to move the hanger to the top of the Ornament.
I work a lot with glass and transparencies and find it frustrating to
have to readjust when moving tubes. The Deformation Tool does
not disturb my lower layers, and solves this problem for me"
Deselect Deformation tool.


12. Turn OFF layer 1
Layers/Merge/Merge Visible.
Now is a good time to save your Ornament in .psp or tube format for
future use.
Turn LAYER 1 BACK ON and make your merged layer active.
Effects/3D/Drop Shadow
V_0
H_85
Opacity_34
Blur_3
Color_Black
Now you are ready to frame, add any sparkles, branches or decorations you wish.....


I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, and can find a lot of uses for it for the coming Holidays.
After the Holidays, if you eliminate the signature, and make it into a base, you have a very pretty globe. You have all the parts, so get creative..... :)....*S*
