Screen shots are resized and for faster loading. Don't forget to SAVE your work often

This tutorial is written in and for PSP Version 7.04 and assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP. I am sure this can easily be done in other Versions with a few adjustments.

I would like to dedicate this tutorial to "Little Mah" who is learning PSP from Mom...*S*

Supplies you will need:

Jasc Paint Shop Pro HERE

Preset Shapes for teardrop if you don't have it. Place in PSP 7 Shapes Folder HERE

Preset Shapes for little hat. Place in PSP7 Shapes Folder HERE

Gradients HERE

Now if you are ready, lets get started. Please remember to "Save" often, so you don't loose your hard work. I will try to remind you, as I am writing this for the beginner. There will be a lot of screen shots to help them learn PSP...*S*

1. Open a New Image 400X400 Transparent see Screen Shot below

2. Select your Preset Shapes Tool. Set up your tool as shown in the Screen Shot below:

Using your cursor, place on 110 and 270 on the BOTTOM guide as shown in Screen Shot.
Then Pull your cursor Up and to the Right for the settings of 280 and 30

On Layer Palette, right click on Layer 2, and select "Convert to Raster Layer".

Now go to top Menu in PSP, to FILE/Save As and name this save as "Balloon In Process" to a folder you have created for this tutorial.

3. Using your Preset Shapes Tool again, select the Party Hat See Screen Shot for Placement. I have placed a Dark Blue background behind our shape, so you can view the placement better.

Set your new shape exactly as before, but use the BOTTOM guide at 187-267 and over and down to 202-284.
If you have trouble getting it lined up exactly use your Mover Tool and slide it into position.

On Layer Palette, right click on Layer 3, and select "Convert to Raster Layer".
Go to top Menu of PSP, to File/Save.
Turn off Layer 1 by clicking on the glasses on the Layer Palette, which puts a RED X on them.

4. Go to top Menu of PSP and select LAYERS/Merge/Merge VISIBLE.

5. Top Menu again and select EFFECTS/3D Cutout and set up as shown in Screen Shot Below.

6. Add a new "Raster Layer, by selecting the small piece of paper on the top of the layer palette.
Select your Preset Shapes Tool again.
Go to you Teardrop again with the same Settings as before.
Using your BOTTOM guide again place this WHITE HIGHLIGHT teardrop shape at the following settings 160-100 and up and over to 195-50
On Layer Palette, right click and "Convert to Raster Layer"

7. Go to top Menu of PSP again and choose EFFECTS/Blur/Gaussian Blur and select a Radius of 9.00

8. With Layer #1 still OFF and Layer #3 active (shows dark blue), go the Top Menu again and select LAYERS/Merge/Merger Visible.
NOW I would like to you do a NEW "SAVE AS" Go to the top Menu FILE/Save As and RENAME this "Balloon Template", into the same folder. You now have your template for creating you balloons.

9. Now so you don't change this Template as you create your balloon, go to your keyboard, and Hold down the SHIFT KEY +D.... this makes a duplicate of your template.
And becomes your active window. Select the Original Window, which should be behind the NEW DUPLICATE....and click on the X in the top right corner, to close the original to the file folder.

10. Now go to Tool Bar and Select your Magic Wand Tool
Setting it as in the screen shot below

11. Activate Layer 2 and Left click your Magic Wand on the outside of your balloon template shape. This will put Marching Ants around the outside edge of your Balloon.
Go to Top Menu SELECTIONS/Invert
Now Activate Layer 1 on your Layer Palette.
Select your Flood Fill Tool
Flood Fill the Center of your Balloon with the Gradient of your Choice.
I used a Rainbow, as shown in the Screen Shot below.

Because I wanted my colors smoother in appearance I used:
Effects/Blur/Gaussian Blur set at 6.00
Effects/Noise/Add set at 3% Uniform.

12. On Layer Palette Lower the Opacity on your Gradient Layer to 50% to make it transparent. This is totally up to you and how you like yours and what gradient you used.
Now Top Menu SELECTIONS/Select None
LAYERS/Merge/Merge Visible.
FILE/Save As..... and name it "Balloon_Rainbow" in PSP format for a tube for the future.

You have now completed your Balloon, and can resize it, or create your graphic from this. Be sure to rename it, if you are making a graphic, so you don't loose your tube.... *S* NOTE: Balloon shows up best with a drop shadow or perspective shadow, to bring it out more

CONGRATULATIONS.....YOU HAVE DONE IT....*S*

I created a couple of other versions, so you might have some inspirations for using you template.

I added a SuperBladePro Preset to a white Flood Fill on these, then added sparkles and animated it.

I didn't add any fill to this, and used the template clear, and added the carousel horse and used the Metallic Confetti in PSP 7, then Text and Perspective Shadow in Eye Candy 3.1

I would also like to thank my tutorial testers from PSP_Dynasty for an outstanding job.
