Sand Dollar

Please do not remove the graphic from this page either by right

I've always loved this legend and I know it's been shared a lot,

however when I searched one day, I found several

versions. I thought it would be a blessing to share all of them with you here.

I had another blessing when preparing the graphic. If you look close at

the underneath view, in the back, you will notice an indentation of the Cross.

It is at the top, a small distance from the top edge.

Version 1

The Legend of the Sand Dollar

There's a pretty little legend
That I would like to tell
Of the birth and death of Jesus
Found in this lowly shell.

If you examine closely,
You'll see that you find here
Four nail holes and a fifth one
Made by a Roman's spear.

On one side the Easter lily,
Its center is the star
That appeared unto the shepherds
And led them from afar.

The Christmas poinsettia,
Etched on the other side
Reminds us of His Birthday,
Our happy Christmas tide.

Now break the center open,
And here you will release
The five white doves awaiting
To spread good will and peace.

This simple little symbol,
Christ left for you and me
To help us spread His Gospel
Through all eternity.

Version 2

The Sand Dollar Legend

Upon this odd-shaped sea shell
A legend grand is told,
About the life of Jesus
The wondrous tale of old.

The center marking plainly shows
The well known guiding star,
That led to tiny Bethlehem
The Wise Men from afar.

The Christmas flower, Poinsettia
For His Nativity
The Resurrection too is marked
The Easter Lily, see

Five wounds were suffered by our Lord
From nails and Roman's spear,
When He died for us on the cross
The wounds show plainly here.

Within the shell, should it be broke,
Five Doves of Peace are found,
To emphasize this legend
So may Love and Peace abound.

Version 3

The Sand Dollar Legend

Upon this odd-shaped seashell a legend grand is told,
about the life of Jesus, that wondrous tale of old.

At its center you will see, there seems to be a star,
like the one that led the shepherds and wise men from afar.

Around its surface are the marks of nails and thorns and spear,
suffered by Christ upon the cross; the wounds show plainly here.

But there is also an Easter lily, clear for us to see,
the symbol of Christ's resurrection for all eternity.

Version 4

The Sand Dollar Legend

The legend of the Sand dollar
That I would like to tell
Of the birth and death of Jesus
Found in this lovely shell.

If you will examine closely,
You'll see that you find here
Four nail holes a fifth one
Made by a Roman's spear.

On one side the Easter Lily,
It's center is the star
That appeared unto the shepherds
And led them from afar.

The Christmas Poinsettia
Etched on the other side
Reminds us of his birthday,
Our happy Christmas tide.

Now break the center open
And here you will release
The five white doves awaiting
To spread good will and peace
This simple little symbol,
Christ left for you and me.
